Job Description:

Under moderate supervision of the Product Program Manager, the Product Program Specialist provides training, support and resources to volunteers, parents, and the Girl Scouts staff, thereby delivering and expanding the Girl Scout Product Programs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide volunteer management, support and resources, to include but not limited to recruitment, selection, releasing, supervision, direction, recognition, and training of Product Program volunteers.
  • Work in partnership with Service Unit Support Specialists and/or Troop Support Specialists to build and maintain strong and functioning Product Program volunteer teams, identify team leaders and evaluate existing leaders to achieve maximum performance.
  • Assist volunteers with Product Program related conflict resolution in order to reach the best solution or compromise.
  • Train and support other departments on relevant Product Program information.
  • Develop and implement innovative Product Program marketing plans.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers to purchase and negotiate motivating girl rewards.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of annual Product Program strategic plans to achieve organizational goals.
  • Reconcile all product program accounts, to include but not limited to, troop payments, vendor payments, council cookie product inventory and outstanding balances.
  • Support Product Program initiatives and goals; encourages, guides and gains support from departments and volunteers toward accomplishing Product Program goals.
  • Create, write and distribute Product Program handbooks, training materials, and updates.
  • Develop a volunteer training plan which leverages technology and successfully imparts necessary Product Program information to volunteers.
  • Greet and provide customer support to girls, volunteers and staff in a friendly and professional manner.
  • Participate in Product Program events, Service Unit meetings, and various program events in which Product Program will be represented.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • BA/BS degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish skills a plus.
  • Demonstrated project management experience.
  • Strong planning, organization and follow-through skills with high attention to detail required.
  • High energy and strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply critical thinking skills and troubleshoot problems.
  • Willingness to try new methods and appropriately question existing processes.
  • Experience developing eLearning content and curriculum is a plus.
  • One-year volunteer management experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable working with social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest, etc.).
  • Proficiency in the following software: MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Familiarity working with Service Units is preferred.
  • Ability to successfully interact with volunteers, employees, collaborators and vendors.
  • Excellent telephone etiquette and communication skills and provide superior customer service to girls, staff and volunteers.
  • Superior written and verbal skills; excellent facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Ability to meet project deadlines and work under pressure. Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
  • Must have a belief in the aims and purpose of Girl Scouting, be willing to subscribe to the principles expressed in the Promise and Law, and be aware of the needs of girls in our pluralistic society.
  • Current California Driver’s license, valid auto insurance, and be insurable by the council auto policy carrier, and have access to a vehicle on a daily basis. Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.
